Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated full-time special education instructor to work with preschool-aged children diagnosed with autism in a specialized classroom setting. This program operates with a low student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring personalized attention and support for each child. The classroom is integrated with a daycare program, fostering a nurturing environment.

The instructor will be responsible for developing individualized behavior and skills development plans, designing tailored programs and activities to achieve each child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and engaging directly with each child on a rotating basis.

Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $45,000 to $60,000, based on experience. Additional benefits include tuition assistance, comprehensive health insurance options, and a 20% discount on childcare services for staff members' children and grandchildren. Eligible employees may also participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the operations and personnel of Racker, reflecting our core values as outlined in our Mission, Vision, and Code of Conduct.
  • Design and implement individualized educational programs for each child.
  • Provide both individual and group instruction, offering leadership and guidance to paraprofessionals as needed.
  • Interpret and communicate each child's IEP to the treatment team, ensuring continuity of care and skill development.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings to discuss strategies for addressing children's needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to incorporate diverse techniques into program design and daily activities.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address challenges and reach consensus within the team.
  • Maintain open communication with families, keeping them informed about their children's progress and program developments.
  • Assist families in accessing necessary resources, whether directly or through team members.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions as directed by supervisors.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary reports, including quarterly progress updates and daily attendance records, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Travel to various locations as needed, using a valid vehicle and holding a current driver's license.
  • Exhibit professionalism in conduct and appearance at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about learning, committed to fostering growth in all children, and receptive to constructive feedback.
  • A Master's degree in Special Education or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Candidates certified after February 2004 must hold New York State certification for students with disabilities from birth to second grade.
  • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis in an educational setting is preferred.
