Position Overview:
This is a full-time, 10-month role within the Exceptional Education Department.
Certification:
This is a certified position.
Affiliation:
Teachers Association.
Location:
Position based at BOCES Smith School.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of a collaborative team in a dynamic 9-12, 12:1:1 special education environment, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing curriculum aligned with Next Generation Learning Standards.
- Delivering effective instruction and assessment.
- Supervising students and facilitating home/school communication.
- Providing ELA instruction tailored to high school students with learning disabilities and behavioral challenges.
- Maintaining student records in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess one of the following certifications:
- New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist.
- Permanent NYS Special Education Certification K-12, deemed Highly Qualified using the HOUSSE rubric in ELA.
- Statement of Continued Eligibility (or limited extension) in ELA.
- New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7-12 with dual certification in ELA.
Compensation:
The base salary for this position is $54,000.00, with additional salary credits available for relevant prior experience, a Master's Degree, and graduate credits. Comprehensive benefits are included.
