Racker is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Special Education Teacher Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will provide essential support to our preschool children with autism in a specialized classroom program.
Key Responsibilities- Support Children's Needs: Provide direct care and support to children with autism, including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and positioning.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Assist with program planning and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for the classroom and individual children.
- Review IEPs and Relevant Information: Review IEPs and relevant information with the classroom teacher to support the implementation of instructional and social-emotional development of children.
- Participate in Multidisciplinary Treatment Teams: Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams to provide continued support for carry-over skill development.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate professionally with families, colleagues, and other stakeholders as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Classroom Management: Carry out necessary tasks for keeping the classroom running smoothly in the absence of the special education teacher.
- Education: High school diploma required; NY State Ed Teaching Assistant certification or eligible and willing to complete process within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: Experience or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to physically assist children, lift up to 40 pounds, engage in repetitive movements, and move quickly to attend to a running child.
