KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Mechanic will undertake a variety of tasks, including:

  • Diagnosing mechanical and operational issues on assigned machinery and planning corrective measures.
  • Executing necessary adjustments to optimize production and quality.
  • Conducting tests to ensure machinery operates correctly.
  • Clearing equipment jams and preparing products for inspection.
  • Testing equipment post-repair or after significant downtime to confirm functionality.
  • Monitoring product quality using gauges and instruments, documenting findings accurately.
  • Performing preventive maintenance checks and inspections, reporting results to supervisors.
  • Identifying defects and analyzing causes of spoilage to implement corrective actions.
  • Documenting production delays in daily reports.
  • Communicating recurring equipment issues to the maintenance team or supervisors.
  • Training and guiding maintenance trainees as needed.
  • Conducting visual inspections and testing machinery for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions.
  • Collaborating with supervisors and other maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
  • Executing repairs on cold storage machinery.
  • Dismantling defective equipment and installing new or refurbished components.
  • Maintaining and lubricating machinery parts.
  • Assembling and maintaining piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repairing and replacing gauges, valves, and pressure regulators.
  • Utilizing cutting torches or welding equipment for metalwork.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years in a related field.
  • Valid California Driver License.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts on a continuous schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in task completion.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and trade-specific equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capacity to build and maintain positive working relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exposure to wet and humid environments.
  • Interaction with moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.

WORKING HOURS:

3rd Shift - 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on operational needs.
