Key Responsibilities

Engage in the custodial upkeep and maintenance of university facilities. Ensure a clean, organized, and visually appealing environment within campus buildings for students, faculty, and staff.Core Duties
  1. Oversee custodial maintenance tasks.
  2. Conduct cleaning operations including floor refinishing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, waxing, and scrubbing of various surfaces such as restrooms, offices, laboratories, and common areas; manage waste disposal and maintain cleanliness of furniture and equipment.
  3. Wash windows and assist in furniture relocation; manage recycling bins and maintain drinking fountains.
  4. Support the setup of auditoriums and other spaces for meetings and events.
  5. Distribute and manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  6. Maintain cleanliness in entrance areas of buildings.
  7. Report safety hazards and maintenance issues.
  8. Promote energy efficiency by ensuring unnecessary lights are turned off.
  9. Operate university vehicles as necessary for job functions.
  10. Complete daily logs accurately and efficiently, demonstrating the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  11. May temporarily take on additional responsibilities to support operations.
  12. In the absence of a supervisor, provide guidance to team members and assist with administrative tasks.
  13. Test and evaluate new cleaning products.
  14. Assist in the annual inventory of custodial supplies and equipment as required.
  15. Help prepare spaces for various functions and events.
  16. Encourage a culture of safety and environmental responsibility by adhering to safety protocols and reporting incidents promptly.
  17. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum education level of 8th grade.
  • Possession of a Texas Driver's License within six months of hire.
  • Experience in a custodial role or similar capacity.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and materials, including safe handling practices.
  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning machinery safely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a custodial position within a college or university setting.

Working Environment:

This position is primarily located on campus.
