Key Responsibilities

Job Overview

The Building Attendant is responsible for the custodial upkeep and maintenance of university facilities, ensuring a clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Main Duties
  1. Conduct custodial maintenance tasks.
  2. Perform cleaning duties including floor refinishing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, waxing, and scrubbing various surfaces such as restrooms, offices, and common areas.
  3. Wash windows and assist in furniture relocation; manage recycling bins and maintain drinking fountains.
  4. Support event preparations by arranging furniture and setting up spaces for meetings.
  5. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  6. Maintain cleanliness in entrance areas.
  7. Report safety hazards and maintenance issues.
  8. Promote energy conservation by turning off unnecessary lights.
  9. Operate motor vehicles as necessary for job functions.
  10. Accurately complete daily logs.
  11. May perform additional duties as assigned to ensure operational efficiency.
  12. In the absence of a supervisor, provide guidance to team members and assist with administrative tasks.
  13. Evaluate new cleaning products and assist with inventory assessments.
  14. Prepare areas for various university functions.
  15. Foster a safe and environmentally conscious workplace by reporting unsafe conditions and participating in safety training.
  16. Carry out other assigned responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum educational requirement of 8th grade.
  • Experience in a similar role or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and materials, including safe handling practices.
  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment safely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar capacity within a college or university setting.
