Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Birthmom Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide vital support and guidance to expectant mothers, helping them navigate the emotional, legal, and logistical aspects of the adoption process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counseling and Emotional Support

Provide compassionate, non-judgmental counseling to expectant mothers considering adoption, helping them explore their options and make informed decisions.

Assessment and Planning

Conduct thorough assessments of the birthmother's circumstances, needs, and preferences to create personalized support plans and ensure the best possible outcomes for both mother and child.

Adoption Planning

Assist in creating and executing an adoption plan that aligns with the birthmother's wishes, including selecting adoptive families if applicable and facilitating communication between birthmothers and adoptive parents.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions, assessments, and decisions made during the adoption process, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and organizational standards.

Collaboration

Work closely with adoption agencies, legal professionals, healthcare providers, and other social workers to ensure a coordinated and supportive experience for the birthmother.

Education and Advocacy

Educate birthmothers about their rights, options, and the adoption process, advocating for their needs and preferences throughout the journey.

Crisis Intervention

Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, helping birthmothers navigate emergency circumstances and make decisions under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Strong understanding of the adoption process and birthmother rights.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and counseling skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience in adoption services or maternal/child health is preferred.
