Overview

The Continuous Improvement Engineer II will play a pivotal role in driving organizational transformation through the adoption of Operational Excellence methodologies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Define, implement, and enhance continuous improvement strategies as an internal mentor and change leader.
  2. Act with urgency to deliver measurable enhancements in critical areas utilizing lean methodologies and six sigma principles.
  3. Engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to cultivate a culture of collaborative enhancement.
  4. Educate team members at all levels on the principles and tools of Operational Excellence, including Waste Identification, 5S, Structured Problem Solving, Tiered Communications, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, OPEX Leadership, and Maintenance Excellence.
  5. Analyze and pinpoint opportunities in process performance data (e.g., bottleneck analysis, level loading, process mapping).
  6. Serve as a coordinator and facilitator for OPEX initiatives.
  7. Apply Lean principles and expertise to bolster plant objectives.
  8. Develop comprehensive OPEX project plans for cross-functional teams in targeted areas.
  9. Support OPEX events and general problem-solving activities (including but not limited to Kaizen events, coaching, training, and tier system implementations).
  10. Provide oversight and support for CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), investigations, and change controls as necessary.
  11. Identify opportunities for enhancement in existing operations and processes.
  12. Offer coaching to shop floor personnel and supervisors through Gemba Walks, one-on-one discussions, root cause analysis, and group interactions.
  13. Assist in maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, and overall quality.
  14. Facilitate training for operations and maintenance staff.
  15. Collaborate effectively with other departments including Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, MST, and Validation.
  16. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  17. Manage medium to large-scale projects.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting, with at least 3 years in GMP-related Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Experience with the creation, tracking, and closure of Corrective and Preventive Actions.
  • Familiarity with lean concepts and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Exceptional communication, verbal, listening, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
