Position Overview:

This pivotal role is integral to the Department of Elder Affairs, focusing on the financial management and strategic oversight necessary to support our mission of enhancing the well-being and independence of Florida's seniors and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Executive will be responsible for:

  • Directing the agency's financial strategy and overseeing the development of the annual budget.
  • Representing the department in discussions with legislative bodies and external stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership in financial management, including the implementation of fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing operational units responsible for Contract Administration, Accounting, Revenue Management, and Budget Monitoring.
  • Collaborating with various divisions to ensure a cohesive approach to financial management and operational efficiency.

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a financial capacity.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in finance and accounting.
  • A strong understanding of state financial systems and legislative budget processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, ensuring effective performance and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional qualifications that will enhance a candidate's application include:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, business management, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
