Position Overview

This role is a professional accounting position within the Financial Payments Section of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, administratively aligned with the Bureau of the Comptroller.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will undertake a range of accounting functions along with various office tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Managing and processing incoming correspondence and handling a multi-line phone system.
  • Investigating vendor payment inquiries utilizing relevant financial systems and resources.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with Financial Liaisons regarding payment matters.
  • Requesting duplicate payment warrants and necessary documentation from the State Comptroller's office.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of incoming refunds and documenting them appropriately.
  • Generating complex financial statements and reports as required.
  • Preparing order requests for the Financial Payments Section through the designated procurement system.
  • Daily retrieval of voucher schedules to ensure alignment with invoices for accurate payments.
  • Assisting in the processing of service authorization invoices for vendor payments.
  • Supporting federal and state auditors as needed.
  • Organizing and maintaining records of all paid vouchers and financial reports.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is a critical function of this role.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic.
  • Familiarity with office procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of state and federal regulations related to financial payments.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data effectively.
  • Capability to prepare and maintain various accounting records.
  • Skill in reviewing financial data for accuracy.
  • Competence in reconciling fiscal records.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
