Position Summary
The Insurance Claims Specialist is tasked with evaluating policyholder claims, investigating reported damages or incidents, and assessing the legitimacy of reimbursement requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive investigations to verify coverage, including vehicle service contract details, eligibility criteria, and exclusions related to recalls or warranties.
- Analyze claim specifics to identify mechanical failures.
- Request and review inspection reports as necessary.
- Confirm component coverage and labor rates using contract codes.
- Utilize resources for parts and labor to achieve optimal outcomes with new, used, or refurbished components.
- Determine the best repair method based on case specifics, pricing, and warranty status.
- Accurately estimate repair costs using relevant tools and workflows.
- Apply contract terms and conditions to all claims appropriately.
- Authorize necessary repairs, towing, lodging, and rentals as per contract stipulations.
- Escalate claims beyond authority limits to the Claims Manager promptly.
- Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders to ensure a superior claims experience.
- Ensure timely and precise documentation of files.
- Monitor call queues and manage agent availability effectively.
- Anticipate and address all customer needs, both internal and external.
- Primarily handle claims from the designated call queue.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in automotive mechanics or 4 years in a related role.
- ASE or manufacturer certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Exceptional organizational and customer service abilities.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair and claims processes is essential.
- Excellent negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Sound critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze problems and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in mathematical calculations.
- Familiarity with typing and software applications, including Microsoft Office and claims processing systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently as well as collaboratively.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform essential functions, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, and using a computer for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
