Job Overview

Position: Department Coordinator


Summary: The Department Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing operations within a manufacturing setting. This position involves collaboration with the department supervisor to ensure efficient production processes and the fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the department supervisor, organizes and prioritizes production activities to align with operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Leads a diverse team, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Assesses labor requirements based on production schedules.
  • Enhances employee relations through effective communication, coaching, and development initiatives.
  • Addresses inquiries and resolves issues that may arise during production.
  • Maintains customer relations and delivers exceptional service as needed.
  • Commits to the principles of 5S methodology.
  • Collaborates with the supervisor to develop and refine operational methods aimed at minimizing issues and enhancing product quality.
  • Keeps the Production Whiteboard updated with relevant information.
  • Works alongside the supervisor to adjust production schedules in response to equipment malfunctions and operational challenges.
  • Ensures adherence to company standards regarding cost management, waste reduction, quality assurance, safety protocols, and timely delivery.
  • Communicates material requirements to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrates commitment to ISO and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Utilizes RF Gun for inventory management.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership role within a production or warehouse environment.
  • Associate's degree in business or a related discipline, or evidence of ongoing education is preferred.
  • Proven track record in training and developing departmental staff.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to team members.

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to identify and resolve practical problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in non-standard situations.
  • Competence in interpreting various forms of instructions, including written, oral, and diagrammatic.
  • Ability to understand a wide range of technical instructions.

Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with production equipment and tools, including forklifts and automated machinery.
  • Understanding of packaging and sales order processes.
  • Awareness of human behavior and motivational factors influencing employee performance.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Competence in using standard office equipment.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and situations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, typically 8 hours daily.
  • Regularly required to bend, stoop, or reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to work the necessary hours to complete tasks.
  • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
