Job Overview

Position: Department Coordinator


Summary: Collaborates with a team to manage and oversee operations within a manufacturing setting. Reports directly to the department supervisor and executes assigned responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the department supervisor, organizes and prioritizes production tasks while ensuring effective operations and cost efficiency.
  • Leads a diverse workforce, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Assesses labor requirements based on production schedules.
  • Enhances employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training, and development initiatives.
  • Addresses inquiries and resolves issues that arise during production.
  • Maintains customer contact as needed, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Dedicated to implementing 5S practices.
  • In collaboration with the supervisor, develops and executes operational methods aimed at resolving issues and enhancing product quality.
  • Keeps the Production Whiteboard updated with current information.
  • Works alongside the department supervisor to adjust production schedules and priorities in response to equipment malfunctions and operational challenges.
  • Ensures adherence to company standards regarding cost management, waste reduction, quality assurance, safety, and timely delivery.
  • Informs the supervisor of material requirements.
  • Commits to ISO and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Utilizes RF Gun for parts movement.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership role within a production or warehouse environment.
  • Associate's degree in business or a related discipline, or evidence of ongoing education is preferred.
  • Proven track record of training departmental staff.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to team members.

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to identify and resolve practical problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in situations with limited standardization.
  • Skilled in interpreting various forms of instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
  • Competent in understanding a wide range of technical instructions.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with production equipment and tools, including forklifts, electric hand jacks, automated bagging machines, and cutting tools.
  • Understanding of packaging and sales order processes.
  • Insight into human behavior and motivational factors influencing employee performance.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment such as printers and copiers.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and situations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain focus under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Regularly required to bend, stoop, or reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
