Position Overview: The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering statistical, analytical, and process enhancement support across various hospital departments, committees, and clinical teams. This position focuses on driving clinical improvement initiatives, leveraging the expertise and educational background of a Registered Nurse (RN).

The primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the formulation of strategic plans and facilitating improvement initiatives based on evidence-based practices.
- Engaging in national clinical quality improvement projects such as CMS Value-Based Purchasing and the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program (IQR).
- Conducting screenings for Medical Staff Quality Committee cases and leading comprehensive Root Cause Analyses.
- Performing retrospective record reviews to identify quality of care concerns.

The Specialist will receive assignments with broad parameters and will utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to achieve desired outcomes. Flexibility to respond to emergency situations, including adverse weather conditions and internal crises, is essential. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
An Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of direct clinical nursing experience in an acute care environment is required. Familiarity with standards set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other accreditation bodies is preferred. Experience with performance improvement methodologies such as LEAN and Six Sigma is advantageous. Previous involvement in healthcare quality initiatives is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in good standing. Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
Skills:
Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and executive leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Excellent customer service and organizational skills are essential. Strong verbal and written communication abilities are necessary. Capacity to exercise independent judgment consistently is required.
Work Environment:
High-stress levels due to simultaneous demands. Generally pleasant and comfortable physical surroundings. Primarily office-based work with some mobility required.
