Position Overview: The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering statistical, analytical, and process enhancement support across various hospital departments, committees, and clinical teams. This position emphasizes clinical areas where nursing expertise is essential, driving initiatives aimed at elevating care standards.

The Specialist is tasked with developing strategies and facilitating improvement projects aligned with evidence-based practices and national quality improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating cases for the Medical Staff Quality Committee.
  • Leading comprehensive Root Cause Analyses.
  • Conducting retrospective reviews to identify quality of care issues.
The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills to achieve desired outcomes. The Specialist must be prepared to respond to emergencies, including adverse weather conditions or internal crises, and will undertake additional responsibilities as needed.

Educational Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Professional Experience:
  • A minimum of two years of direct clinical nursing experience in an acute care environment is required.
  • Experience with CMS Conditions of Participation and accreditation standards is advantageous.
  • Prior involvement in LEAN, Six Sigma, and performance improvement teams is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare quality initiatives is beneficial.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
  • Capability to exercise independent judgment consistently.
Work Environment:
  • High-stress levels due to simultaneous demands.
  • Comfortable and pleasant physical surroundings.
  • Primarily office-based work with some mobility required.
