Position: Client Relations Specialist

Location: Albany, NY

Duration: 12+ Months ONSITE

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Role Summary:

The Client Relations Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing concerns related to utility services. This position requires a keen analytical mind to assess consumer complaints and apply relevant regulations to resolve issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly evaluate the factual basis of consumer grievances regarding utility services and utilize appropriate laws or regulations to investigate these complaints.
  • Provide detailed information and respond to inquiries, reviewing company records to address customer concerns both verbally and in writing.
  • Guide service providers or request customers to supply necessary information to enhance the case record.
  • Instruct service providers to perform inspections or tests to assess service adequacy and billing accuracy.
  • Document and compile complaint data and assist in generating reports.
  • Direct service providers to take corrective actions to resolve disputes.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to acquire specialized knowledge of Public Service Law and Regulations through research and training.
  • Prior experience as a legal secretary, paralegal, or investigator, or experience in dispute resolution is advantageous.
  • Capability to conduct thorough investigations into customer service and consumer protection complaints.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with analytical abilities, are essential for resolving consumer disputes.
  • Proficiency in gathering relevant facts from both customers and utility providers, applying laws and regulations to make informed decisions.
  • Attention to deadlines is crucial to ensure consumer protection.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in investigating consumer protection or customer service complaints in legal or quasi-legal environments.
  • Background in conducting investigations related to energy, telecommunications, or water services.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management systems.
  • Possession of a college degree (Associates or Bachelors).
