About Scratchboard Kitchen: A cozy dining establishment accommodating approximately 70 patrons, with expanded outdoor seating during warmer months. The menu emphasizes fresh, seasonal ingredients, showcasing the culinary talents of Executive Chef Grace Goudie, who brings a wealth of experience from prestigious kitchens. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the management team.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the restaurant for a seamless brunch service.
    • Activate lighting, music, and climate control as necessary.
    • Inspect all areas of the restaurant to ensure cleanliness and readiness.
    • Allocate server sections on the floor plan.
    • Assign closing and side duties to staff.
    • Conduct pre-shift meetings with team members to discuss reservations, special menu items, and any pertinent updates.
  • Manage daily front-of-house operations, including reservations and table arrangements.
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff, providing guidance to ensure that the service at Scratchboard Kitchen consistently exceeds guest expectations.
    • Maintain high standards of quality in both product and service, engaging with guests to gather feedback.
  • Interact with guests throughout the service to ensure satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve customer feedback and complaints promptly.
  • Oversee the closing procedures of the restaurant to ensure readiness for the next day.
    • Verify completion of closing checklists for all staff roles.
    • Conduct a thorough inspection of the restaurant for cleanliness and preparation.
    • Reconcile cashouts and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
    • Complete necessary administrative tasks related to staff timekeeping.
    • Ensure compliance with health regulations and standards.
    • Participate in hiring and training processes as required.
    • May involve coordination of events and private functions alongside the catering manager.
