Job Description:

The Mental Health Nurse Specialist at Lincoln Behavioral Svcs. plays a crucial role in providing exceptional nursing care to individuals experiencing mental illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough health assessments for clients, ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Administer medications as ordered by staff psychiatrists, ensuring safe and effective dosing.
  • Evaluate client needs and document progress notes, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Participate in committees requiring nursing input, promoting best practices and quality care.
  • Provide training and mentoring to newly hired nurses and students from local colleges and universities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of LBS policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and excellence in patient care.
  • Assess and respond to emergencies, including first aid and universal precautions.
  • Review laboratory reports and medical records, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Develop and implement treatment interventions addressing client needs, focusing on diet, nutrition, and hygiene.

Requirements:

  • Registered nurse (associates degree) or Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university required.
  • Ability to effectively treat consumers with mental illness using time-limited treatment modalities.
  • Preferred 2 years experience in working with the mentally ill population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • State of Michigan (LARA) licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Salary Estimate: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
