Electro-Mechanical Technician

Meta is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician to join their team in Redmond, WA. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing quick turnaround prototypes to establish platforms and develop prototypes for product teams and researchers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, test, and validate new product designs in collaboration with product development and engineering teams.
  • Build and test complex mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies in low/medium quantity.
  • Document and maintain prototype parts inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and organization.
  • Perform prototype device sustaining activities, including repairs, maintenance, updates, and workflow management.
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble fixtures and other tooling for experiments and prototype assembly/test.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and document results, providing valuable insights for product development.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient engineering lab, ensuring a productive work environment.
  • Participate in DFM/DFA reviews and documentation of feedback, driving continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Relevant vocational training or 5+ years of experience in an equivalent role.
  • Hands-on mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly experience, with a focus on optical and ESD sensitive component assembly and handling.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including drivers, drills, files, and taps, as well as assembling devices.
  • Experience with high accuracy measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometer, dial indicator, laser, etc.
  • Basic electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience working with reliability test equipment and collaborating with reliability engineers for planning, execution, and data collection.
  • Ability to handle sensitive equipment, such as cameras and microphones, and work in a lab environment.

  • Experience working on laptops, cell phones, portable speakers, tablets, wearable technology type of hardware.
