Currently, D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Land Manager for their Operations Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, contracting, obtaining governmental approvals, and finalizing land acquisitions that align with the division's objectives. This role also involves developing raw land and implementing necessary infrastructure to facilitate home construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all activities related to land acquisitions and development.
  • Establish and nurture relationships within the business community to explore potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Conduct land valuation analyses and prepare corporate budgets.
  • Formulate policies regarding property usage, sales, and construction timelines.
  • Negotiate property acquisitions with landowners, attorneys, or brokers.
  • Draft memoranda and documentation for corporate approval of land purchases.
  • Manage the due diligence process for land acquisition prospects, collaborating closely with internal design and development teams.
  • Coordinate resources to meet all entitlement requirements for land acquisitions.
  • Monitor development phases and entitlement processes following closing.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules.
  • Review and sign relevant documents, plats, and contracts.
  • Responsible for creating and managing the departmental overhead budget.
  • Collaborate with local municipalities and utility contractors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises two or more employees within the Land Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; and addressing employee concerns.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is required, or seven to ten years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel are also necessary.
