Educational Qualifications: Must have graduated from an accredited RN program.

Experience Requirements: A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required, including at least one year in long-term or sub-acute care. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Licensure and Certification: Must hold a current RN license in New York State. Responsible for maintaining annual licensure in accordance with regulations and completing yearly CEU requirements. Current certifications in CPR, Accucheck, and IV Therapy are also required.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the administrative and clinical operations of the nursing department during designated shifts or units, ensuring compliance with current regulations governing long-term care facilities.
  2. Act as a resource for staff in clinical and managerial decision-making, delegating responsibilities effectively.
  3. Engage in inspections conducted by authorized agencies.
  4. Ensure proper assessment of residents and validate clinical decisions made by nursing staff.
  5. Contribute to the development, implementation, and communication of individualized care plans for residents.
  6. Conduct regular rounds on nursing units to ensure adherence to established nursing standards and that all resident needs are met.
  7. Monitor nursing staff documentation procedures, addressing any issues and reporting to the Director of Nursing.
  8. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Personnel Responsibilities:

  1. Follow work assignments and schedules to complete designated tasks.
  2. Execute all tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  3. Collaborate with interdepartmental personnel and other departments to ensure that services meet residents' needs.
  4. Adhere to attendance rules as outlined during orientation.
  5. Recognize staffing needs and facilitate appropriate staff assignments within established patterns.
  6. Meet regularly with staff to identify and address problem areas and improve services.
  7. Function as a staff nurse or provide direct care as needed.
  8. Ensure that disciplinary actions are applied fairly and without bias.
