Pediatric Oncology Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Oncology Nurse to join our team at Lifespan. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional care to patients and families affected by pediatric cancer.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to pediatric oncology patients, including administering chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients with various types of cancer.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing care activities provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in educational activities, including conferences, seminars, and orientation of new staff.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities, including monitoring and evaluation of care, validation of nursing and ambulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
  • Demonstrated competence in administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy with an understanding of COG protocols.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Exposed to ambulatory patient care environment which includes exposure to communicable diseases, however adherence to infection control policies and procedures minimizes chance of illness or injury.
