Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sonar Systems Engineer to join our team at Penn State University. As a key member of our Acoustic Data Science Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced sonar systems and signal processing algorithms for various Navy applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement modeling and simulation of sonar systems and analysis of sonar data collected by fielded sensors systems
  • Make comparisons between the measured data and sonar models, implementation of computer algorithms to extract information from the recorded data, and generation of reports and presentations to document findings
  • Work on real-time/high-performance implementation of the developed algorithms and/or models
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • Strong background in signal processing, acoustics, and algorithm development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, and CUDA
  • Knowledge of time-series analysis and signal processing
