Federal signal has an opening for an Acoustic Engineer. This person will apply acoustic, electrical and systems engineering theory and concepts to the design and development of components, systems and customer layout drawings.Key Activities/Responsibilities:Analyze and interpret data from acoustic tests and measurementsUse computer modeling software to simulate acoustic scenarios and predict sound qualityProvide expertise on noise and vibration control for a wide variety of applications, including product design, environmental impact assessments, and workplace safety regulationsWrite technical reports and documentation of acoustic test results and design solutionsStay updated on current research and advancements in acoustic engineering and related fieldsDesigns speaker driver systems including voice coil, diaphragm and magnet structuresDesigns horns, acoustic coupling structures including throat impedance modeling, acoustic efficiency and radiation pattern controlDesign and implement acoustic solutions for various projectsConduct acoustical analyses and assessmentsTest the performance of acoustical designsCollaborate with the design and engineering teamsPrepare technical reports and presentationsStay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the field of acousticsUnderstands and provides guidance on siren standardsFlexibility to perform other duties and assignments as requiredRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university3 - 5 years of engineering experienceProven work experience as an Acoustic Engineer or similar roleStrong understanding of acoustics principlesExperience with acoustical testing equipment and softwareKnowledge of noise control methodologiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood communication and presentation abilitiesBenefits of EmploymentIn addition to excellent career growth opportunities, Federal Signal Corporation offers a wide array of benefits including: annual bonus potential, insurance (life, medical, dental, vision), paid holidays, paid vacation, 401(k) with matching contributions and tuition reimbursement.
