Job Summary:

The Chaplain II - Spiritual Care provides spiritual care and support to patients, families, and associates across various religious and cultural backgrounds. This role involves providing ethical and spiritual guidance to patients and families to facilitate informed treatment decisions. The Chaplain II promotes a spiritual environment within the hospital by organizing prayer services, leading prayer sessions in patient waiting areas, and utilizing the PA system. Key responsibilities include:

  • Visiting patients in assigned areas to provide spiritual care and follow-up support as needed.
  • Responding to spiritual care calls and making referrals to priest chaplains as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating professional expertise and skills.

Requirements:

Education: Graduate Theological Degree (M.Div. or Equivalent)

Certification/Licenses: Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE approved) and certification as a chaplain from an accredited Chaplaincy Organization.

Skills:

  • Understanding of Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
  • Demonstrated honesty and integrity in all relationships.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using computer, printer, and other necessary equipment.

Experience: Three years of experience in hospital or hospice ministry.

Supervision: Responsible to the Manager of Spiritual Care.

Work Environment: Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated, and smoke-free environment.

Physical Requirements: May require walking, sitting, and standing, with occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 20 pounds.
