Position Summary
Provide compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and associates across diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. Offer ethical and spiritual guidance to patients and families, supporting them in making informed treatment decisions. Cultivate a spiritually enriching environment within the healthcare setting by participating in and organizing prayer services on special occasions and facilitating moments of reflection in patient waiting areas.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized spiritual care to patients through visits, follow-up support, and responses to spiritual inquiries.
- Connect patients with appropriate sacramental resources and clergy members as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual care interactions and interventions.
- Stay current on best practices in spiritual care and relevant ethical guidelines for healthcare.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological education.
- Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE-approved).
- Certification as a chaplain from an accredited Chaplaincy Organization.
Skills and Attributes
- Deep understanding of ethical and religious directives within the healthcare context.
- Demonstrated commitment to honesty and integrity in all relationships.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and office equipment.
Experience
Three years of experience providing spiritual care in a hospital or hospice setting.
