Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Evening Operations Manager Trainee to join our team at Hannaford Supermarkets. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for managing retail operations for assigned departments, making decisions that impact store associates, merchandise quality, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a Positive Work Environment: Create a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers.
  • Ensure Quality Standards: Ensure that all quality standards are met, and the department's appearance and presentation are maintained at the highest level.
  • Manage Department Operations: Manage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices, including hiring, training, and developing associates.
  • Attain Financial Objectives: Attain departmental financial objectives, including sales, payroll percent, gross margin, shrink, and MPP net percent effectiveness.
  • Supervise Performance: Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of all assigned department associates, providing recognition of accomplishments and constructive counseling when necessary.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions, lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, and meet established volume and fixed activity standards.
Preferred Requirements
  • Financial Acumen: Assist in attaining financial objectives, including sales, payroll percent, gross margin, shrink, and MPP net percent effectiveness.
  • Culture Development: Foster a sales-driven, consumer-focused culture through relationship building and promoting an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control to maximize sales and limit shrink issues.
