Job Description

At Schill Grounds Management, we are seeking a highly skilled Landscape Operations Manager to oversee daily productivity of crews in the field, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscape operations, with a minimum of 8 years of experience, including 3 years as a supervisor/manager. They will be responsible for training and enforcing safety procedures, ensuring work is performed to the required quality level, and participating in the company's Quality Control System.

The Landscape Operations Manager will also be responsible for overseeing training and certification activities, identifying and improving lower-performing crew leaders and crews, and creating capability within the crews through training, instruction, education, correction, and follow-up.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop strong professional relationships with customers. They will also be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to adapt to new software programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Train and enforce safety procedures and policies.
  2. Ensure work is performed to the required quality level.
  3. Participate in the company's Quality Control System.
  4. Oversee training and certification activities.
  5. Identify and improve lower-performing crew leaders and crews.
  6. Create capability within the crews through training, instruction, education, correction, and follow-up.
  7. Ensure all crews are working productively and consistently with the company's Production System.
  8. Develop crew schedules accounting for and optimizing job locations, equipment allocation, crew skills, customer preferences, most productive job timing, and job hours.
  9. Support the mechanic's programs for Preventative Maintenance, repair procedures, safety and function inspections, and inventory systems.
  10. Assist in developing production cost estimates for new opportunities.
  11. Act as a liaison between field operations and the administrative, customer service, and general management functions.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • 8 years of landscape experience, including 3 years as a supervisor/manager is preferred.
  • Knowledge of local turf types, shrubs, groundcover, and seasonal color materials, including growth characteristics, appropriate maintenance techniques, and most common issues.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently.

Work Conditions:

Employees in this position should be able and willing to drive or travel locally as needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate in snow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
