Position Summary

This full-time position operates during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM). The Adult Stem Cell Transplant Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing all administrative functions associated with the Adult Stem Cell Transplant Program at the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. This includes overseeing reimbursement processes, coordinating necessary pre-hospitalization assessments, and ensuring comprehensive follow-up for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a vital resource for the Stem Cell Transplant Program, supporting all healthcare team members.
  • Develop and regularly update standard operating procedures related to Stem Cell Transplant.
  • Oversee a cohort of patients undergoing evaluation for stem cell transplants or cellular therapies, facilitating referrals, education, and evaluations.
  • Maintain regular communication with referring physicians and institutions to ensure timely sharing of essential medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with the BMT Financial Coordinator and Managed Care Department to secure appropriate financial coverage for patients.
  • Establish connections with external donor registries to facilitate unrelated donor stem cell collections and ensure accurate billing.
  • Provide data and information as requested by the Managed Care Division regarding the stem cell transplant program.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility to practice under Compact state agreements.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in an oncology treatment environment is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, including their side effects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in assessing patient needs across various demographics and developmental stages.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, essential for engaging with diverse staff members.
