Registered Nurse (RN) - Transplant Intermediate Care

We are seeking skilled Transplant Intermediate Care Registered Nurses to become integral members of our nursing team at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The Surgical Transplant Intermediate Care unit is a monitored, 27-bed inpatient facility dedicated to the care of kidney, pancreas, and liver transplant patients, as well as kidney and liver donors, paired kidney exchange patients, and those with high MELD scores or complications from transplantation. This unit is supported by a specialized ambulatory care center.

Key Responsibilities:

This role represents the foundational position for all nurses at UMMC with over 12 months of experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the necessary skills and knowledge while actively participating in unit governance.
  • Adhere to the guidelines outlined in the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter.
  • Independently provide and coordinate care for patients within a clinical specialty.
  • Act as a fully engaged member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
  • Exhibit and exemplify the full spectrum of nursing professional practice in both patient care and in the development of strategies aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, service satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness at the unit level.
  • Accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during their treatment.
  • Responsible to peers for advancing group practice on the unit and to the nurse manager for overall work performance.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligibility to practice under compact state requirements as defined by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification is required.
