Job SummaryWe're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Failure Analysis Engineer to join our Product Quality (PQE) & Failure Analysis Engineering (FAE) Team Lead. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in supporting customer returns, new product introduction, and the continual improvement of our electric vehicle charging products.
Responsibilities- Lead system- and component-level failure analysis with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and drive preventative/corrective actions.
- Perform laboratory hands-on electrical and physical failure analysis for fault isolation on electronic products, including EVSE, AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, PCBA, and cable harness.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify the root cause for issues related to field, manufacturing, supplier quality, and product design.
- Develop and maintain failure mode databases, write failure analysis reports, and create presentations to communicate root causes and preventative/corrective actions.
- Drive improvements with internal cross-functional teams and leverage data storytelling to prioritize activities and drive preventative/corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience in electronics/high voltage laboratory environment with a record of driving failure analysis from system- to component-level.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as a self-starter.
- Familiarity with electrical systems and components, including their failure modes/mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with electrical tools and methods, including Digital Multi-meter (DMM), Oscilloscopes, IV Curve Tracers, Signal Analyzer, Power Supplies, Electronic Loads, etc.
- Familiarity with physical failure analysis techniques, including optical microscopy, SEM/EDX, 2D and 3D X-ray, and mechanical cross-sectioning.
- Experience applying problem-solving tools, including Root Cause Analysis, 8D reporting, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Ishikawa Fishbone Diagrams, and 5 Whys.
- Familiarity with at least two data analysis tools, including Excel, Tableau, SQL, Python, or equivalent.
