Job Summary

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced mechanical engineer to lead the design and development of our electric vehicle charging products. As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for driving innovation and delivering world-class products that meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute ChargePoint's products, ensuring manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions.
  • Interface with suppliers to efficiently execute designs into mass production.
  • Identify design opportunities for quality, cost, assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Develop and monitor production tooling, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Conduct root cause and failure analysis on current products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience in a Mechanical Engineering role.
  • Proven track record of leading projects into production.
  • Strong working knowledge of injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, and mass production processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of sheet metal design practices using aluminum, steel, and associated finishing processes.
  • Self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and operate outside of your comfort zone.
  • Proficient in CAD (NX highly preferred, others accepted).
Desired Skills
  • Design experience in high power system and interconnect design (up to 1kV & up to 500A).
  • Ruggedized outdoor electro-mechanical products (IP protection).
  • Cooling system and thermal solution design (both air and liquid).
  • Material selection for functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with FEA and ability to perform stress/strain analysis.
What We Offer

ChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The targeted US salary range for this role is $76,500 to $186,700, representing base salary and not reflecting equity, benefits, or variable pay where applicable.
