Overview: The Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) initiative is dedicated to equipping employees with the necessary tools, resources, and environments that foster safe, efficient, and healthy practices. We are in search of a seasoned and forward-thinking Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to enhance our team. The Regional Safety Operations Manager will oversee WHS functions across various locations within their designated area, ensuring adherence to corporate safety protocols and compliance with all relevant local and regional regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize lean methodologies and continuous improvement strategies to mitigate conditional and ergonomic risks, ensuring a secure and health-conscious workplace for our Associates.
  • Establish trust and confidence with operational teams, driving change through comprehensive risk evaluations and safety data analysis.
  • Communicate effectively, delivering clear and consistent messages both verbally and in written formats.
  • Instruct and mentor operational leaders on Amazon's safety protocols, assisting site teams in integrating these standards into their operations.
  • Identify and implement best practices, incorporating these methodologies into our safety standards to enhance the overall safety framework.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of local and regional regulations alongside company policies.
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS policies.
  • Evaluate site performance against established WHS policy requirements, developing action plans to address any deficiencies.
  • Deliver timely and high-quality projects to operational teams.
  • Analyze WHS metrics and review incident trends to allocate resources effectively to areas with heightened safety risks.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits to identify non-compliance issues and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
  • Review record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training and evaluation methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Engage with delivery teams to gather feedback on safety program enhancements, ensuring transparent communication regarding progress and resolutions.
  • Ensure site leadership and Associates are well-informed of their responsibilities under each policy, auditing the quality and effectiveness of all required safety training.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50-70% of the time and flexibility regarding shifts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 2 years of experience with Amazon.
  • At least 3 years of progressive responsibilities in WHS and/or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, or service sectors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface comfortably with site leaders.
  • Proven capability to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in safety management within distribution centers or manufacturing environments with a diverse workforce of at least 250 individuals.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in dynamic, fast-paced organizations.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including the use of pivot tables and the creation of charts and graphics.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites remotely.
