Position Summary:

This role is essential in managing patient access responsibilities within a centralized call center environment, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

The incumbent will handle incoming calls, assisting patients with registration, appointment scheduling, insurance inquiries, and medication refill requests across various specialties.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient demographics and register individuals in the Epic system.
  • Confirm and validate insurance coverage for patients.
  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently while promoting MyChart activation.

The role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex scheduling scenarios while maintaining a high level of customer service.


Essential Duties:
  • Respond to incoming calls from patients seeking to schedule appointments, ensuring adherence to quality and quantity standards.
  • Utilize Epic Provider Vista for accurate appointment scheduling, applying specific guidelines for each provider.
  • Provide information to patients regarding their inquiries, ensuring all registration requirements are met.
  • Manage medication refill requests and communicate effectively with office staff.
  • Verify insurance coverage at the time of scheduling to facilitate reimbursement processes.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, including managing pre-appointment registration items and assisting with MyChart activation.

Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of customer service experience is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.

For those assigned to Patient Access Specialist II, six months of additional experience in a related role is necessary.
