Addison Group is collaborating with a prominent construction firm to identify a qualified GPS Technician. Below are the details of the position.

Position Summary

The organization is in search of a proactive GPS Technician to support construction teams in grading, excavation, and utility installation initiatives. The successful candidate will excel in a collaborative environment, playing a vital role in construction layout, site stakeout, and data collection tasks. This position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge industry technology, including 3D machine control, data collection tools, modeling software (CAD & Trimble Business Center), and GNSS equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Trimble surveying tools and software effectively.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Utilize mathematical skills for various project tasks.
  • Interpret and execute detailed instructions, both written and verbal, and understand construction plans.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fulfill physical demands related to movement and lifting tasks.
  • Employ Carlson software for staking, design, and on-site modifications.
  • Create models for machine control applications.
  • Ensure accurate finish grades for roadways and parking areas.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Analyze contract drawings, specifications, and surveys to address discrepancies.
  • Verify field data for precision and compliance with project plans.
  • Maintain an organized documentation system.
  • Educate field personnel on GPS operations and equipment usage.
  • Independently service and troubleshoot GPS equipment or coordinate with vendors.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with equipment suppliers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in recording topographic data, conducting volume calculations, verifying construction data, and performing site stakeout and layout.
  • Proficient in operating Trimble GPS Base and Rover systems.
  • Background in heavy civil construction, roadwork, or quarry operations.
  • Possess an insurable driving record.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
