Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Design, Automation, and Metrology (ADAM) lab. As a key member of our team, you will work under the supervision of the Principal Engineer to apply manufacturing software tools and machinery to educate, validate, and support the implementation of new digital thread and digital twin technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and validation of digital thread workflows focusing on automated CNC programming processes utilizing model-based definition.
  • Support the team in the design and validation of other digital thread workflows for various manufacturing software and technologies, such as production lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, CAD, costing, inspection, and analysis software via model-based definition.
  • Develop model-based definition files from existing CAD models and drawings.
  • Support the development of supervisory control for manufacturing systems, primarily focusing on CNC machines.
  • Setup and run simulations, finite element analysis, and generative design projects.
  • Identify and implement collaborative design opportunities with cross-industry partners.
  • Conduct outreach to regional manufacturing companies to implement advanced technologies and digital workflows.
  • Represent CCAT at workshops, events, and tours and may contribute to patent applications, proposal writing, and journal articles.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience or equivalent.
  • Skills: Knowledge of PLM, proficiency in CAD modeling and simulation, proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python, basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of inspection systems, CNC programming, Siemens Teamcenter, Solidworks PDM, additive technologies, robotic programming, extended reality technologies such as Hololens, and automation experience.
