Job Summary

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician Mechanic to join our team in Hartford, CT. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
• Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• All other certification as required by location

Additional Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
• Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• This position requires the ability to drive Ryder vehicles
