Role Overview:


SOVAH Danville is in search of a PRN Respiratory Care Specialist Tier II to assess patients with respiratory issues and perform diagnostic evaluations.

Collaborate with physicians to create and execute individualized treatment plans. Administer physiotherapy and educate patients on medication usage.
Evaluate lung function and analyze blood samples utilizing a blood gas analyzer.
Implement and monitor prescribed therapies according to the care plan. Document and communicate patient status as necessary.
Review respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes, current studies, and best practices.
Respond to emergency situations and provide necessary interventions. Assess patient conditions and deliver appropriate care.
Inform patients and families about health conditions and available community resources.
Manage inventory of respiratory supplies and medical gases, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment through regular disassembly, sterilization, and preventive maintenance.

Educational Requirements:
Associate's degree is mandatory.
Completion of a Respiratory Care Program for Advanced Practice Respiratory Therapists is required.

Essential Skills:
Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential.
Must thrive in high-pressure environments and respond appropriately.

Flexibility in scheduling is required, including availability for all shifts, weekends, and holidays to ensure patient care continuity.


Certifications/Licenses Needed:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association is required or must be obtained within six months of hire or transfer.
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT) is required.
Licensure by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is required.

Experience Requirements:
Tier II - $30

Minimum of 18 months of hospital experience as an RRT
Minimum of 36 months of hospital experience as a CRT
Availability for at least one shift per week
Two weekend shifts per month based on staffing needs
Two holidays per year – one major holiday
