Position Overview:

SOVAH Health is seeking a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist to assess and treat patients with respiratory issues. The role involves collaborating with physicians to create and implement effective treatment plans. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, delivering therapies, and educating patients on medication usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct lung capacity measurements and analyze blood samples using advanced equipment.
  • Administer and evaluate responses to prescribed therapies.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions accurately.
  • Review and enhance respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and current research.
  • Respond to emergency situations, assisting in airway management and resuscitation efforts.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and available community resources.
  • Manage respiratory care supplies and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Document all relevant patient care activities in compliance with standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited program.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for weekends and holidays.

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required within six months of hire.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) or eligible to take the RRT exam within 18 months of hire.
  • Valid license to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Virginia.
