They are currently in search of a Systems Engineer to enhance their expanding team of technical specialists.

In the role of Systems Engineer, you will be tasked with ensuring the secure and effective functioning of both physical and virtual Windows servers and systems across various environments, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions. Your contributions will support the successful implementation, operation, and management of Microsoft products within a federal government context. This position is full-time and offers the potential for a hybrid work model following an initial probationary period. An active Secret Clearance is a prerequisite.

This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the mission of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and sustaining Windows servers and systems, including Server 2016, Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and Windows 10 & 11, along with other Microsoft solutions.
  • Establishing, configuring, and managing virtual environments that host Windows servers and additional applications utilizing VMware vSphere and vCenter.
  • Facilitating the migration of servers from Server 2016 to 2022 and transitioning certain server systems to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Ensuring the integrity of Windows servers and systems by applying security updates, implementing secure configuration settings, and deploying endpoint detection and response measures.
  • Managing identity and access protocols through Active Directory, both on-premises and in Azure, ensuring full synchronization and multifactor authentication.
  • Implementing and maintaining Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for individual and endpoint encryption and authentication.
  • Providing backup and recovery solutions while routinely managing file systems and disk space using Veeam.
  • Recommending hardware, software, and system component acquisitions.
  • Maintaining equipment within a data center environment.
  • Engaging with vendors to troubleshoot issues, evaluate products, and assess services.
  • Creating system administration documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Adhering to organizational processes and security protocols.
  • Maintaining security audit logs and monitoring information across all networked and standalone systems.
  • Reporting on project status for both recurring and non-recurring initiatives.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision to develop and implement solutions.
  • Collaborating with other IT professionals, including network administrators, developers, security engineers, and help desk personnel, to ensure the seamless operation of the IT infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • AS/BS/BA in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of pertinent professional and technical experience.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • Current Microsoft Certifications, such as:
  • Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator.
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator.
  • Microsoft Certified Windows Server Administrator.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter, along with virtualization (current certification is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with both on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft products, including Azure, Server 2019, Windows 10 & 11, and InTune Endpoint Manager.
  • Data center experience is beneficial.
  • Experience within the federal government sector is essential.
  • Knowledge of FISMA, CIS Benchmarks, and DISA STIGS is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to remain seated at a computer and desk workstation for extended durations.
