Position Overview:
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is actively seeking a seasoned Engineer - Digital Senior to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing comprehensive engineering support to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics). The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in acquisition systems engineering, particularly within a System Program Office or Headquarters Air Force environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected individual will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting engineering evaluations of Technical Transition initiatives, encompassing mission engineering, early systems engineering, experimentation, and prototyping.
  • Investigating and interpreting program trends, pinpointing challenges, and proposing effective solutions.
  • Executing technical analyses on specific weapon systems, their integration, and associated capability domains.
  • Assessing weapon systems architecture and integration, identifying potential issues.
  • Recognizing operational shortcomings and other critical matters, researching alternatives, and offering recommendations for resolution.
  • Performing trade-off studies concerning weapon systems, technology, and costs.
  • Reviewing and evaluating technical, operational, and management documentation and specifications.
  • Assessing the capabilities of weapon system design alternatives to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Providing expert guidance on Model-Based Systems Engineering implementation and associated policies.
  • Evaluating policy requirements and procedures that govern Air Force acquisition engineering and technical services.
  • Conducting analyses related to operating system end-of-life support and recommending strategies to mitigate impacts on weapon systems.
  • Assisting in the development of tools, processes, and practices within SAF/AQR, particularly in relation to Digital Engineering and Digital Transformation.
  • Coordinating and aligning SAF/AQR responsibilities and activities in Digital Engineering and Digital Transformation with other Department of the Air Force and Department of Defense organizations.
  • Delivering technical expertise and critical support to SAF/AQR in the context of Digital Engineering and Digital Transformation.

Qualifications:
The candidate must possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in acquisition systems engineering.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering.

Work Experience Substitutions:
12 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master's degree. A Bachelor's degree along with 8 years of relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
