Vast is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Hardware and Test team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of critical systems that will enable the design and construction of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage GNC Component Testing: Oversee responsible engineers in developing procedures for confidence, acceptance, and qualification tests of GNC components.
- Coordinate with Functional Groups: Ensure timely coordination with relevant functional groups in obtaining environmental test levels, test harnessing, and ground support equipment.
- Ensure Industry Standards: Lead and sign off on test readiness reviews to ensure industry standards are met.
- Manage End-to-End GNC Tests: Oversee GNC tests during and after vehicle integration, both prior to and at payload processing facilities.
- Develop GNC Flight Dynamics Simulation: Manage the development of high-fidelity GNC flight dynamics simulation and data management systems in support of GNC Monte-Carlo simulations.
- Lead GNC Coordination: Lead GNC coordination with flight software test teams to ensure hardware-in-the-loop testing of GNC components meets industry standards.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or other engineering discipline.
- Experience: 8+ years of space industry engineering experience.
- Advanced Education: Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of computer applications and ability to navigate different software programs.
- Business Acumen: Ability to create and update request for proposals (RFPs), purchase orders (POs), and facilities work orders in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Logical and strategic approach to solving problems.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a high-stress environment, balancing multiple projects, and adjusting to abrupt changes in strategic direction.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
