Marine Rigger Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
*Position based in Philadelphia, PA*
The Rigger II will execute specific rigging tasks utilizing lever and chain hoists, reeving, rigging hitches and knots, anchor points, synthetic ropes, wire ropes, chains, spreader bars, synthetic slings, lifting points, dollies, trollies, winches, bars, levelers, and rigging jacks. Responsibilities include selecting and attaching hoisting and pulling equipment for lifting, moving, and positioning heavy machinery and large structural components. The role also involves fabricating, installing, and repairing standing and running rigging and wire cable, fiber, or synthetic rope articles. The Rigger II will handle various objects aboard ships and in workshops, utilizing cranes and hoists.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Intermediate proficiency in all rigging tasks, including load dynamics and weight estimation related to rigging operations.
- Ability to read English and possess a general understanding of blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and sketches.
- Solid knowledge of basic mechanisms and the ability to select appropriate work procedures and equipment.
- A valid driver's license and qualification to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with safety manuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience as a Rigger or relevant military experience.
Successful candidates must complete the following qualifications/certifications within specified timeframes:
- Pass the NAVFAC P-307 Rigging Practices exam within 30 days.
- Qualify as a Workboat Crewmember within 6 months.
- Qualify as a Forklift Operator within 90 days.
- Qualify as a Signalman within 90 days.
