Join us for an exciting career opportunity where you will work on military vessels, including destroyers and aircraft carriers. We are currently seeking a dedicated Hazardous Material Technician to contribute to our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly and annual inspections for workplace safety and hazards at vessels and facilities.
  • Conduct daily waterfront assessments to identify safety and environmental risks.
  • Recognize workplace hazards and implement necessary actions to maintain a safe environment.
  • Investigate incidents related to safety and environmental concerns, preparing detailed reports.
  • Oversee hot work and safety inspections for various operations, including oil and hazmat management.
  • Complete First Aid training and provide basic first aid as needed.
  • Inspect asbestos and preservation operations for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct atmospheric testing to ensure safe entry and operations in confined spaces.
  • Collect and analyze samples of hazardous materials and waste, including oils and heavy metals.
  • Monitor heat stress and conduct noise surveys.
  • Identify and rectify insulation issues aboard ships.
  • Manage mold abatement processes on vessels.
  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage and disposal operations.
  • Prepare reports detailing safety inspections and any discrepancies found.
Qualifications Required:
  • Proficient understanding of safety, environmental, and hazardous material regulations.
  • Two years of relevant education and experience in hazardous materials or military service.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with the company's Vehicle Safety manual.
  • Successful completion of required certifications, including:
    • Shipyard Competent Person (gas-free) certification
    • AHERA Building Inspector Certification
    • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
    • Forklift operator certification
    • Medical clearance to wear a negative pressure respirator
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with additional education and experience in hazardous materials.
  • OSHA 10-hr. and 30-hr. Maritime Card.
  • Training in wastewater sampling and analysis.
