GENERAL FUNCTION

The role involves managing and nurturing commercial loan portfolios, ensuring compliance with established lending criteria while optimizing profitability and mitigating risks for the institution. This position plays a crucial part in enhancing the bank's growth and profitability through strategic commercial partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with branch leadership to formulate business strategies aimed at achieving regional sales objectives and overall organizational targets.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of all banking products and services to effectively market the bank to both current and prospective commercial clients.
  • Maintains and expands existing commercial loan relationships through cross-selling and referrals.
  • Assists in the rollout of new products or initiatives designed to enhance customer service and drive growth.
  • Demonstrates initiative to meet established sales, service, and retention objectives.
  • Oversees one or more lending assistants and customer service representatives, conducting performance evaluations and providing training to ensure thorough understanding of commercial offerings.
  • Negotiates terms of credit, including interest rates, repayment structures, and collateral requirements.
  • Monitors the credit quality of the commercial loan portfolio, conducting thorough analyses of credit reports, financial statements, and cash flow projections.
  • Identifies and develops new referral sources to generate additional business opportunities.
  • Proactively informs clients about upcoming loan maturities and renewals, ensuring timely receipt of necessary documentation for loan processing.
  • Participates in various committees as designated by management and may lead special projects as assigned.
  • Conducts interviews with loan applicants, assesses financial information, and makes informed lending decisions in accordance with established policies.
  • Holds primary responsibility for managing a commercial loan portfolio, ensuring adherence to sound banking practices while maintaining profitability.
  • Engages in community activities to enhance the bank's visibility and reputation.
  • Conducts business development outreach to existing and potential clients, tracking interactions and opportunities in a management system.
  • Maintains an active presence in community affairs to bolster the bank's profile.
  • Implements strategies to minimize overdue loans and non-performing assets to align with leadership expectations.
  • Collaborates closely with the Collections Manager to address delinquent accounts.
  • Facilitates effective communication between team members and management to ensure high-quality information flow.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of bank personnel and customers, ensuring clear communication.
  • Achieves specific performance goals related to production, quality, and growth as outlined by management.
  • Actively seeks new deposit and Treasury Management opportunities within the assigned market.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Participates in Loan Committee meetings as necessary.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with loan support staff.
  • Addresses inquiries or directs them to the appropriate department, ensuring follow-through with customers and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in commercial and consumer lending; supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of lending policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and meet established objectives.
  • Proven capability to motivate teams in a sales environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and colleagues.
  • Essential skills in business development, customer relations, and decision-making.
