The Operations Assistant Manager contributes to Mattress Firm's achievements by assisting in the effective daily management of the distribution center, overseeing team members, and helping to achieve financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the smooth daily operations of the distribution center.
  • Support the achievement of financial goals in alignment with budgetary expectations.
  • Foster a culture of trust, open communication, and teamwork.
  • Ensure alignment with the strategic vision and communicate the organizational mission and values to the team.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to facilitate communication.
  • Hold individual meetings with direct reports at least twice a month.
  • Ensure compliance with operational processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain the distribution center to meet company standards for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Identify areas for improvement and lead continuous enhancement initiatives.
  • Resolve customer service challenges effectively.
  • Verify payroll accuracy for drivers.
  • Conduct necessary physical inventory counts, address discrepancies, and implement corrections.

Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a secure working environment by following all safety policies and procedures.
Complete all required training and certifications by their deadlines.
Communicate professionally with all internal and external stakeholders.
Adhere to company policies and uphold standards of appearance and functionality, as well as appropriate brand representation.
Report any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure operational efficiency.
Implement performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions when necessary, in accordance with company policy.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly distribution center-wide meetings to share organizational achievements and address any questions or concerns.
  • Assist with loss prevention audits and safety assessments.
  • May be responsible for training and retraining team members and contract employees on safety and other protocols.
  • May oversee employee time records and approve leave requests per company policy.
  • May assist in the recruitment and hiring process for potential team members.
  • May manage the distribution center in the absence of the center leader.
  • May engage in coaching discussions and administer disciplinary actions as needed.
  • May lead or participate in daily briefings at the start of each shift.
  • May take an active role in onboarding and training new team members.
  • Execute company initiatives and other tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas for optimizing team performance and overall company operations.
Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
Professional Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

Physical Demands

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Capability to lift or move 100 pounds or more.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers, reaching, and occasional stooping or kneeling.

Pay Range:
$66,560 annually
