Job Title: Principal or Sr Principal Operational Analysis Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal or Sr Principal Operational Analysis Engineer to join our Systems Engineering Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our company's technological advancements.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual to perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness, conducting detailed trade studies by building and implementing constructive simulations from the component through the system level. The selected candidate will work in a collaborative, small team environment, building, maintaining, and enhancing data and software products focused on mission success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation.
  • Conduct operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
  • Create and apply knowledge of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to support blue/red kill chains across multiple security environments, programs, architectures, and platforms.
  • Provide blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis in mission-level models to help accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects.
  • Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering \"V\". Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develop operationally relevant mission scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
  • Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and:
    • Principal Systems Engineer – 5 years of experience or 3 years of experience and Master's Degree or 0 years of experience and PhD.
    • Senior Principal Systems Engineer – 8 years of experience or 6 years of experience and Master's Degree or 3 years of experience and PhD.
  • Computer/engineering skills using C#/C++, JAVA, or other Object Oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Research, Analysis, and Creating Assessments of Foreign Threats to US Military Operations
    • Vehicle performance analysis
    • Air vehicle survivability analysis
    • Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), Air and/or Space platforms
    • Analysis at the Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability, Engagement, and/or Mission Level
    • Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Countermeasures
    • High-fidelity modeling of physical and non-physical systems such as weather, communications, neural networks, markets, mfg. processes, etc.
    • Red and/or Blue CONOPs and TTPs
  • An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ability to code using MATLAB or PYTHON.
  • The ability to develop physics-based models and simulations using Object Oriented programming.
  • An ability to work with a team in a rapid prototyping environment.
  • Experience with system of systems modeling tools: AFSIM, Suppressor, or Brawler.
  • Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture.
  • Operational military background or experience
  • Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to include project/analysis lead experience.
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI.
