POSITION SUMMARY:

The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and disseminating information within the Environmental Services Department while providing direct support in housekeeping, laundry, and custodial services as required. This role primarily assists the Director with daily departmental operations, which includes answering phone calls, taking notes, and maintaining essential files and logs, as well as interacting with clients and customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in coordinating and organizing the master cleaning schedule for all unit cleaning and special projects in a timely manner, while regularly communicating with residents about their cleaning schedules.
  • Document and submit resident billing and monthly cleaning reports.
  • Maintain all necessary departmental records, messages, notes, and reports, ensuring accurate and up-to-date logs.
  • Support the Environmental Services Manager/Director in coordinating and documenting mandated annual deep cleanings for each unit.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special events and functions.
  • Conduct inventories of all housekeeping supplies, including equipment and radios.
  • Responsible for placing department orders for supplies and chemicals, pending approval from the Department Director/Manager.
  • Assist department leadership in adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Help assign cleaning responsibilities for unit turnovers as needed.
  • Compile the Environmental Services move-in folder (including EVS packet, laundry bag, etc.) for new and transferring residents.
  • Support management staff with educational sessions related to compliance reminders.
  • Provide direct housekeeping, laundry, or custodial services as necessary.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with residents and foster positive departmental morale.
  • Participate in required in-service training and educational sessions.
  • Safeguard community property and equipment, ensuring there are no defects.
  • Report any damages, deficits, or disturbances to superiors.
  • Address complaints and requests with professionalism and patience.
  • Observe and report noticeable changes in residents' health, demeanor, or disposition to supervisors.
  • Assist Environmental Services team members with projects or deadlines as directed by the Director/Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two years of experience in office management or as an administrative assistant.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Exceptional writing and grammar skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and telephone etiquette are essential.
  • A High School diploma or GED is required; special courses in environmental services or institutional management are a plus.

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a culinary role within a hotel, restaurant, retirement community, or similar institution.
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively, interpreting instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operations and maintenance, along with some knowledge of nutrition and dietary practices.
  • Culinary education is preferred.
