Position: Youth Conservation Program Supervisor

Overview:
This role involves leading and mentoring youth in conservation efforts, providing them with essential job skills and educational experiences that foster personal growth and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspire and guide young individuals by imparting valuable job skills and educational insights.
  • Facilitate impactful service initiatives that benefit the local community.
  • Serve as an excellent entry point into the fields of environmental stewardship, youth mentorship, and outdoor education.

The Youth Conservation Program Supervisor will co-manage and oversee teams of up to ten young participants, aged 15-18, throughout the summer. The program consists of two distinct sessions, each lasting five weeks, during which supervisors will lead different groups. Teams will operate from Monday to Friday, convening each morning at a designated community location. During the program, supervisors will be tasked with executing a variety of hands-on conservation projects on both public and private properties, while also delivering daily lessons through an accredited outdoor education curriculum. Successful candidates will demonstrate a balance of hard work, compassion, patience, and an inspiring demeanor.

Benefits:
This position is part of a collaborative effort with AmeriCorps, the national service initiative. Participants will receive a living stipend and an educational award upon completion of their service term. Additional benefits are available and can be explored further.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required prior to the start of the program.
  • Experience in recreational or professional outdoor settings and a background in youth engagement.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Experience or a desire to work with diverse groups.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass background checks.
