Job Title: Laborer

Marmon Holdings, Inc. is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at Union Tank Car Company in El Dorado, KS. As a Laborer, you will assist in various departments as needed by plant production, performing tasks such as car repair work, using a variety of tools and equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist plant production personnel and skilled labor in car repair work, including burning, fitting, grinding, blasting, and painting.
  • Use pneumatic and hydraulic tools, jacks, cutting torches, and forklifts proficiently.
  • Complete tasks such as changing gaskets, hoses, valves, repairing piping, and pipe fitting.
  • Act as a safety watch for tank/hopper car entry.
  • Maintain area in a neat and orderly manner and report work hazards.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED, or ability to pass a basic skills test.
  • Job-related knowledge of measuring devices such as rules.
  • Understanding of weight volume, and other units of measurements.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.
  • Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts, including overtime.
Work Environment:

Exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat. Work outdoors often and be exposed to the elements. Physical effort in lifting and carrying materials and attaching rigging devices. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Moderate physical exertion is required. Positions relatively heavy objects by using a forklift or other mechanical means. Manual dexterity in operating control levers and buttons. Exposed to dirt, fumes, smoke, and heat. Some climbing into and out of vehicles, crane cabs, etc. Some outside work possible minor cuts and bruises. Must exercise caution in operation of equipment in confined areas.

Possible exposure to hazardous materials or hazardous waste from leaks or spills of these materials while moving or storing them.
